Pasty-Monet effect D90 footage

Hey Guys,

Does anyone else seem to get 'pasty-looking' footage that looks like someone put a Photoshop "Monet" filter over it? ***I just found an old thread that says it from the low-bitrate and compression***

Also, does anyone shoot with all the preset color curves, Noise Reduction or D-lighting turned on?

Thanks,
Andy

Most of the 'pasty' look may reflect overexposing the skin, with a concomitant loss of detail in the blown out areas. The d90 LOVES to overexpose--you need to lock the exposure on a brighter area of your image to push the exposure down. (Hope there will be a firmware update that will help with this).

There is plenty of d90 footage out there that shows good skin detail, so I don't think it is a d90 compression issue.

Thanks, Robert.

I'll make sure to do that with some of my tests. I'm still trying to get the shooting workflow down as second nature.

Best,
Andy
