Passing along about Distribber/Go Digital probably going bankrupt

So if any one has any films with them you need to pull them now.

Basically in a nutshell they haven’t been paying royalties for a long time. But still are taking money from filmmakers to put your film on all of the platforms. Even though they’re going bankrupt.

If they go bankrupt you may not be able to go to another distrubutor.

So pull your films now. Because leaving it there you won’t get any money from it.

Sorry about the language of this video. But it covers a lot of what is going.

There's also this text article from Variety, published on Oct 1, which includes a couple helpful links:

Distribution Companies Distribber, GoDigital Close Down, Rattling Independent Filmmakers

[snip]

Reports began emerging last month that the companies had closed down without explanation. The web site currently says, “At this time, Distribber is not accepting any new orders. For questions, contact support@distribber.com.”

The companies also recently hired bankruptcy specialist GlassRatner, which describes itself as “a national specialty financial advisory services firm providing solutions to complex business problems and board level agenda items.”

Good luck everyone!

Years ago I got a settlement from Lenscrafters. I could choose either a 100 bucks or free glasses.

Problem was the law firm handling the suit. Wanted to make as much profit as they could.

I had until a certain date to respond. Problem was the letter was mailed and post marked after that date.

I think most people are pulling their films and going to other distributors.

Most already feel they’ll never getting the 2nd and 3rd quarter monies owed them.

But if you don’t pull it. If any more monies come in. It could go to GlassRatner to pay off creditors instead of the filmmakers.

Some are trying to make the platforms more accountable. For example Netflix says you have to go to Disribber to get your film shown on their platform. Since they told you to go there. Then they should vet the aggregators and hold them accountable for their actions. Yes the studio films make them the big money. But their aren’t enough studio films to sustain their biz. So really they need us indies to have enough content to show...

Just my .02 opinion.

I’m getting most of my stuff from here. So if you want to know more go there.

Those on Netflix may very well be able to recover their owed royalties directly from Netflix, since they were required to go through the distribution company. It's a stretch, but for some people it might be worth the legal fees to try it.
