Go grab your daughters if you have some!
Wanted to share this with you guys. If for nothing else than just to put some more stuff online of the af100 in action.
Shot and edited in 48 hours. A friend of mine who works for a party company where girls dressup as princess and go to little kids parties to play games for a few hours asked me to help give her ideas for a competition that her company was holding for it's employees. I told her I would be happy to help out and we ended up shooting it two days later.
I should also add that the only actors/actresses were the princess in pink and and prince.
This had little to no planning, no shot list and locations were found as we went along. We had 4 hours to shoot everything as people were only available for a short amount of time and no one to help out on the video side of things. This was wonderful because it allowed me to get inspired when we arrived at anything we found remotely interesting and it also allowed me to make all the biggest mistakes with the AF100: Letting things blow out like crazy, very very handheld as there was no time to set down tripods or get bounce boards. So you will see a TON of shake, very blownout backgrounds and areas of talent that get blown out, but that's what made it a great experience for me because it allowed me to push the camera to its limits. And considering all of that, I think we ended up with something that can put a smile on anyone's face and not to be taken too seriously.
It also gave me an opportunity to do some work with AE which is completely new to me. Chroma keying, rotoscoping, mattes, motion tracking, the works. It's surprising easy to use and very addictive!
But after shooting this, I am convinced even more that i need the Samurai to come out. Need something a little more rugged as a codec than what the camera provides natively.
Anyway, enjoy it for what it is. Given an opportunity to have a crew, planning and gear, the project would be very very different. But the lack of all of that is also why I had so much fun and am still very pleased. Enjoy!
