I don't have a problem with them or tons of other celebrity scientologists because they aren't going on talk shows trying to convince people to stop taking medication for pyschiatric help.

I have an aunt (not a scientologist) who secretly took my grandfather off of his medication because she doesn't believe in it. And he commited suicide in the midst of a psychotic fit.

That's MY beef with Tom Cruise and people like him. They have their personal beliefs and apply them to things they know nothing about. Does he have a PHD in psychology or neuropsychology for that matter? No he doesnt. So he shouldn't be talking about those things based off of the teachings of a B grade sci-fi novelist.

Tom Cruise like it or not is a celebrity and people look up to him (maybe not as many now as back in the day) but people will listen to things celebrities tell them and in that regard Tom Cruise has a responsiblity for the things he says and its irresponsible of him to go on a national talk show and try to influence people on a subject he knows nothing about.

I have beefs with other religions too but this one bothers me the most.

And just for the record i love Tom Cruise the actor. And i think his last few movies have been his best. Especially Collateral.

I personally belong to no religon. I don't try to disaude anyone from being religous. Seeing as how this topic is probably on the verge of getting closed, this is my last post on the subject.

I just think that from what I've read about scientology it's not like any other religon, they're to secretive, and anyone who doesn't believe in it is shunned. It's just a weird cult in my opinion. I've never met a scientologist in my life so I can't judge, but I think most of their claims are insane. I mean I don't believe in taking certain drugs, but if I have strep throat I'm going to take anti-biotics. I don't think meditating about it will help it that much.

But they're asking him these questions. So he openly says his honest take on the subject matter and gets crucified ? So he is not a puppet ? We all know that. He is human, we're human.

If I was J.R. Hudson (Famous Filmmaker) and asked my opinion on the President I would'nt back down one second; I'd be like 'He's an idiot'

Anyways

Cruise doesnt bother me. As mentioned earlier, there are actors doing things out there that are hidden from us that'd get us arrested.

I've met some 'Christians' exactly like this. It's just another religion.

1) You guys do realize you're all arguing over Tom Cruise, Right? :P

2) Not that I care either way, just a statement with no opinion or ramifications, but Scientology requires you a sign a legal, physical contract that involves monetary agreements and other such things to join their belief system. Last time I checked no other religion had such documents. That is the main differentiating factor for me between Scientology and other religions. Again, I'm not saying anything is better or more "true" than anything else.

Let me ask ya something, if you are a christian, than you believe that your religion is the one thats true correct? Sure other people are allowed to not be christians, im not saying Christians shun anyone whos not one, BUT... if someone is say... a scientologist, then they arent going to Heaven in the eyes of a Christian , correct? So wouldnt the christian be doing the scientologist a favor in his own eyes by trying to convert them over to christianity? Thats being a good christian, all i know are "good" christians, they are just trying to save your SOUL!

Thing is... I have no power to convert anyone... I can share my faith (in a proper non-offensive manner) but the power to convert someone does not lie with me...

And you are right, the majority of "christians" are very put-offish, which is sad... that's no way to be a good witness at all.

Hey that's cool though; no different than the SCIENTOLOGISTS trying to pimp their non-sense.
 
i dont want anyone to share their faith with me, ill ask if i care. and christians are witnesses? as in jahova's witnesses?

Again, all I am stating is the fact that you have no choice but to sign a legal non-arbitrating contract to officialy be a scientologist that involves monetary amounts. Whereas in religions such as the Catholic faith is is still OPTIONAL whether you make donations or not and there is no written document that you sign in agreement to make those optional donations. Stating that "everyone gives you the evil eye" is your opinion and not a fact that can be validated for argumentative purposes.
 
Right... I agree... People should NOT just be friendly to get an "in" to ask you to come to bible study or whatever... they should truly be nice people... Christians lives should show an outward love toward all, not a bible thumping proselitizing.
 
i once didnt donate into the bucket-o-money and got jumped by two sisters and a priest in a confessional!
