GH13 PARADOX: need 29.27p AVCHD !!!

Hi all,

Here is an unusual request. I have 2 bodies, GH1 and GF3. I need to make a video using both of them.
However the footage of AVCHD with the hacked GH13 is 24p and the GF3 is 29.97p....

How can I change the fps of the GH1 to 29.97p... Isn't that possible???

Thanks for your help, I am in a hurry for shooting a wedding ...:Drogar-Shock(DBG):

Thanks! But I need to keep 1080p...
So I tried to switch the GF3 to pal mode to get 25p (because I can do the same with the GH1)... and I can't do it. It seems locked.
Any ideas?

I really hate to say this, but I think you are screwed. The guy who gave the first response, probably knows the GH1 hack as well or even better than the guy who wrote it does. I am sure the reason he suggested the 720 patch was the same reason that I can not remember ever seeing 30P for the GH1, anywhere. The only other option might be some "conversion" software, but can't say I have heard of it and what I have used, hasn't given me good results for other settings.

All I can tell is the variable speed on GH2 (don't know about GH1) in 80% is 1080p30 that creates a slow motion 24p image. Could be a lead.

What makes you think you “need” 1080p? I would love to see if you can distinguish between 720p and 1080p vs. the difference between making 29.97 conform to 24p.

In reality you have a few options. The 720p of the GF1 can be slowed down by 80% and match the frame rate of 24p exactly.

The 1080p @ 30 FPS mode of the GH2 can be sped back up by 20% to match the GF1’s 29.97. That is what I would recommend doing if you don’t need audio.

I wouldn’t record in 25p and match that to 24p. It will probably be more trouble than it is worth.

Have you ever thought that mixing the 720p from the GF1 with the 1080p from the GH2 will have huge differences in actual resolution? The GF1 records in 720p. However, it actually resolves less than 600 horizontal and vertical lines of resolution. The GH2 has more than 850 horizontal lines in 1080p @ 24 FPS mode.

There will be a very noticeable difference in detail when you switch back and forth. Personally I would use 720p on both cameras. 720p is better on the GH2 but not quite what 1080p is. The 720p @ 60 FPS footage will cut perfectly in with the 720p @ 30 FPS footage.

I have both of the cameras(GH2 and GF1). Both of them are hacked now and I use 720p for both cameras when I use them together. That works quite well.
