Pans etc w/ anamorphic adapter

I'm thinking about getting the LA-7200, but considering how complex it can be to focus the camera with the adapter, how would one go about doing pans, tracking shots, etc?

Would you have to set the aperture to whatever the maximum it would need to be for all the points in the shot where you need the subject to be in focus, light it appropriately, and figure out all of the focal points ahead of time? Would that work?

That's what I would do. But I haven't tried it. Most of what I've shot with it was locked down.

I'd find the nearest and furthest extent of focus through all the blocking and then light such that I could shut down the iris to incorporate both extents within the focus depth.

You could also define a series of focus averages and targets, and then manually focus to them while moving. My feeling was that if I was going to shoot a lot of motion, I'd sacrifice the extra resolution and go to squeeze mode instead of using the anamorphic adapter to avoid the complexity.

But then I got the HVX, which obviated the need.
