GH2 Panny X Vario PZ 45-175mm on Amazon for $199

[keylight]

Gold box deal

Great price on a decent lens with power zoom, for those who want/need it.

Retail is $449, normal Amazon price between $319-$365, until Noon CST just $199 (or until they run out)

And.... the deal is over!

Funny, I'm about to return this lens.

[swaneon]

any reason why?

Black was already sold out, but I managed to get one in Silver.

Thanks much for your kindness in sharing info about this great deal.

Turns out 45 is just not wide enough for my needs.

But more importantly, the zoom speed isn't continuously variable, and the manual zoom isn't mechanical, it's fly-by-wire. So whatever zoom speed you set for the lens applies to both servo and manual zooming. I need to be able to slow zoom out, then snap zoom back in for reframing, while shooting. On any normal video camera this is easily done, but simply can't be done with this lens.

@Jim you are spot on about those features. However, it is still a great little lens. I wish they had just made a 14-140 X series lens. The 14-140 with servo zoom is all I need for most of my work. I use the 45-175 on concerts using a second GH2... Works great for all sorts of things, as a secondary lens. If I had to pick two lenses I would still go with the 20mm pancake and the 14-140mm..

The 14-140 with servo zoom is all I need for most of my work.

Make that a constant 2.8 and mechanical zoom in manual mode, and I'm right there with ya.
