Panavision Genesis For sale?????

They've got 2 of them! Wouldn't be to hard to get these cameras working granted they weren't submerged in water. The way the F35 is built, it could take a few years of hard bangs without breaking the insides. If you had both these cameras to pull parts from, I wonder if a working genesis could be made. Kind of cool to see close up photos. It appears to have a different color filter infront of the CCD, but that could just be damage/photo flash.

Uh, are you kidding? That is nothing but junk. No CCD and they were clearly either found in a sunken boat or the bottom of a dumpster. With how the Chinese steal everything these days, I wouldn't be surprised if these weren't part of some past attempt at reverse engineering. And that price is hilarious.

Wow, Panavision will be pissed when they find out about this.

Trust me, they would never let anything Panavision-MADE be sold

I saw this last week. I agree with Vince. It's junk!

No sensor and there is no telling what inside still works, which given the condition and look of the housing I would say probably not much. It's clear that it isn't just normal wear and tear. Bottom of the ocean sounds right.

Plain junk. Not even good enough for a display piece. It's too far gone.

As for the suggestion of cannibalizing a working F35 to rebuild this camera, I wouldn't see much point. The F35 is improved in every way, from image quality to ergonomics. Even if it was possible it would be just so one can say he owns a "Panavision" camera.

I even wonder if these were stolen from a Panavision skip, they genuinely do break up their cameras at the end of their lives but these look more like they have perhaps been involved in insurance jobs? Perhaps from a crew in asia who have less qualms about kit "disappearing" than here?

I bet Panavision would be able to read the barcode in that one picture and know where this camera was last rented. Maybe some kung fu movie?

I agree reviving the camera is a bit of a joke, only for bragging rights. What is interesting about the Genisis is the Panalog, F35 is still on Panavision's website and they have Panalog on the F35.

I wonder if they would be willing to share the LUT or if that is considered Panavision protected property also. Interesting that this person thinks the Panalog rolloff's are more film-like than the SLOG when one of the strongest points of the F35's unique image is it's nice rolls-offs.

Has anyone played with custom SLOG settings at all? I assumed once set in SLOG all the settings were locked, but I never considered that the gamma and color space are all custom in custom mode so it might be possible to have a LOG image but with different settings than the cine mode. Off course then we are also talking about new LUTs for that footage. Kind of crazy how adjustable this camera really can be.

I would love to see some raw Panalog vs Slog stuff! I'm sure we'll never get our hands on it though... so unfortunate.

Maybe I should rent a Genesis for the day and shoot some charts and side by sides so we can make a custom LUT ourselves haha.
