Panasonic's new model ..the AC-90 (an updated HMC40?)

If they ditched the touch screen and improved the VF and lcd resolution, that would be great. Note that the sensors are even smaller at 1/4.7, that might be a non-starter for pro work.

I agree with the touch screen -YUKK!! but the LCD is the same as the AC160 it has gone from 230K pixels right up to 1.1M pixels..very sharp screens...the sensors might be just 0.2mm smaller but they are backlit and the lens is both faster and bigger diameter glass so the image may turn out even better than expected. For wedding work here (most are outdoors) the 1/4" cips are awesome and with a light on the camera the image is still excellent at receptions. With my 130's with 1/3rd chips I still had to use lights so overall there wasn't any huge advantage!! I think they used the touch screen due to lack of space on the body for controls but I even battle with my smart phone or tablet!! I must have unresponsive fingers??

We are about 2 weeks from DV Expo (West) and I hope to go there. If possible I'll shoot some video of what I see in the Panasonic Booth.

That would be neat Bob

I certainly hope it performs a little better than the bigger AC series and doesn't lose the amazing quality and performance of the HMC40....My two AC-130's lasted with me only 3 months and 80 hours of shooting and I went back to HMC's again. The features certainly sound really good as long as they retain all the 40 specs .... things like the hi res LCD and 1080 60P will be great as long as the inherrant issues that 130/160 have are not introduced....I would rather live without dual slots and a double frame rate in that case!! If you can, test the autofocus very carefully...hopefully they will retain the focus system of the 40 and 80 .... I think the Leica lens will also go South unfortunately which is even a bigger pity!!

We look forward to your results
