Panasonic's 24A release in Canada!

Re: Panasonic's 24A release in Canada!

The DVX100AP model (perhaps that should be EH! in Canada) will be on dealer shelves by January 1st all going well with the weather and transportation. The DVX100AP will replace the DVX100P (P is for North American not PAL).I have received my sample this week. The price here in Canada will be about $400 more list price than the previous model, and well worth it. If you buy a CDN model you will CDN warranty. If you buy in the USA or off shore Caveat Emptor!

Thats the status for now

Befroe you make defamatory remarks about a dealer I might remind you to read the terms of agreement for this user group.
You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of ANY law.
to be fair to Commercial Electronics they have 2 divisions; the consumer group who sell expensive toys and who do not specialize in the AGDVX100 and the industrial division upstairs. These are the folks who should know the camera, perhaps not every little detail or able to answer all your questions right away. That's why they have me as a resource here at Panasonic. They sell hundreds of high end technical product, they should be forgiven for not knowing every little detail about each one. Next time go up stairs and talk to the industrial group and spend less time knocking them down. If they can't answer the question they Panasonic Canada can.

Re: Panasonic's 24A release in Canada!

I Will Never recommend Commercial Electronics to ANYONE who steps foot in this forum, due to my constant negative experiences with them on multiple occasions.... and if anyone has had a problem wilth any dealer, you can take my user agreement and throw it out the window and tell everyone you want how much they suck... as long as its honest.

I accept your go upstairs explanation, but in defense they sell the DVX on the downstairs floor, and the salespeople should be able to answer simple questions, I have gone upstairs before to ask about some more detailed questions and still they could not help me. Not to pick on commercial electronics.. Leos has pretty crappy service as well, but they have lots of cool stuff.

Vidcom on the other hand is great, along with some other dealers.

BTW David.. thanks for stopping by.. Its Good to see Panasonic in here every once in awhile. hee hee... sorry I had to disagree with you.

There is no law regarding "Word of mouth". Just check the Better Business Bureau!

Re: Panasonic's 24A release in Canada!

yes indeed.. which is why I am so adamant that if a retailer sucks.. let everyone know... it helps everyone out except for the crappy retailer mentioned... and Commercial electronics is more than welcome to come here and defend themselves if they are offended.  I sure there are many people out there that love them.

Re: Panasonic's 24A release in Canada!

I don't see how any of the comments made here about our dissatisfaction with Commercial Electronics even come close to defamation or obscenity. While I completely respect David Craig's efforts to defend one of his company's authorized retailers, his quoting of the forum agreement is heavy-handed.

So let me tell you something about Commercial Electronics: I wrote them an e-mail in August about pricing and availability of the AG-DVX100 and to this day I have yet to receive a reply. Here I am, a customer interested in making a C$5000 purchase and they don't even bother to write back.

Of course, I shouldn't be surprised---it says something when a retailer has numerous "page under construction" notices all over their website. Just check out their "site search" page (http://www.commercialelectronics.ca/search.html) and you tell me what you think of the "search" function.

Now, let's contrast the above "service" with DVSHOP.ca in Toronto. They've answered every one of my e-mails within one or two business days.

In my opinion, Commercial Electronics is an arrogant business that I absolutely do not recommend to others.

Re: Panasonic's 24A release in Canada!

I too have emailed and had no reply from Commercial.. I dont think there is any question that in the pro video side of things they are regarded poorly. they are a corporate office party kinda place in my opinion.

DVshop.. on the other hand is one of those little exceptional companies that are on the ball.

Re: Panasonic's 24A release in Canada!

As much as everyone hates "i agree!" posts, I just feel extremely motivated to chime in that dvshop is the greatest. I got my DVX there, and wouldn't shop anywhere else after dealing with them.

Re: Panasonic's 24A release in Canada!

Terry at DVshop.ca is awesome, knows his stuff, and has designed a store that really caters to the independent filmmaker.

Re: Panasonic's 24A release in Canada!

Case in point.. obviously from this thread you can see the difference between 2 retailers, one that is useless and one that is very good. As the thread goes on, you start to see that its not one person bashing a store, it's a common experience.. and that helps everyone here as now they can look at the threads and think.. do I want to goto a place where I will be treated right, or do I want to go somewhere that I need to teach the salesman about his product...

So, as I said before, the forum agreement does not apply to this thread at all, in fact I encourage comments like this, good and bad.
