Panasonic X900M 60p Final Cut X export question

Hi guys,

I've been shooting 1080p 60fps footage with my Panasonic X900M video camera. When editing the footage in Final Cut Pro X should I be exporting the footage w/ the frame-rate set as 60fps, 59.94, or 59.92fps? Just want to make sure i'm doing it properly. Thanks for the info!!

Your timeline should say the frame rate at the bottom...either 60p or 59.94p.

It's most likely 59.94.

Thanks for the reply! Looks like I should be exporting at 59.94fps, but a few older videos were exported at 60fps... They looked ok, but what negative effects does outputting a 59.94fps video at 60fps cause?

There is no noticeable difference. But only certain professional cameras let you shoot at an exact 60p.

Regarding X900M's 60p, it should always be 59.94 in FCP X.

The only way to change the timeline's frame rate is to create a custom timeline instead of dropping in your footage and letting FCP X automatically detect the correct settings.
