Panasonic wide angle....any good?

I'm getting ready to order my DVX100B, and I can't decide if the Panasonic .8 wide angle adapter is the one I want.
There are plenty of cheaper ones out there, but not sure about the optical quality or operational issues. Is the Panasonic a "zoom through" adapter? How does it compare to the others out there performancewise? Is there a better one for the money(around $375)?
Thanks
Guy

The Panasonic is a full zoom-through and it looks pretty good; only knock against it is that it isn't all that wide.

Century sells a wider wide-angle for less (about $330) but it's not full zoom-through, you can only zoom to about Z60 before it loses focus.

Either is fine.

Thanks, Barry

Which Century wide angle are you referring to? I really don't want anything so wide that it screams "fisheye" though. How much wider does it go than the Panasonic?

I'm talking about the .6. It never gets to "fisheye" range, but it is very wide and it does accentuate the barrel distortion at the edges. However, you don't have to zoom out quite that far if you don't want.

The .6 gives twice as much widening effect as the Panasonic .8.
