We won't know the answer to that until full specifications are revealed and that's not likely to happen for another three or four months. As it stands right now, they looked to be operationally similar to me, with the difference being the recording media and codecs. However, we've also been told that the SDI and HDMI outputs on the HPX250 are 10-bit, and the AC160 is 8-bit. So there may be differences under the hood that we're not aware of yet. Gotta wait a few months for those answers to be crystallized.

Great news. I was reluctantly looking to other brands for a longer lens and better low light capabilities than my 200. I don't know enough about the sensors to know if this camera is likely to to better in low light than the 200? I've also rented the Sony Z5U and been impressed with the low light ability. Any comparison at this early stage?

Any info is much appreciated as I have to make a decision within 2 weeks for a project...

thank you for the quick response.

i am more intrigued with the more 250 than i thought i would be.

during the past near 6mos i have been a fan of the canon xf300/305 which i've used at work and even considered buying its baby brother the xf100 but i might wait for the 250.

in either event, i'm scheduled to be at abel cine/nyc for your af100 class so again, thanks

Anyone have any idea if this cam will record 4 channels, as does the HVX/HPX170? And, if so, will it do so in all modes?

i thought the hvx200 and the hpx170 only did 2x xlr not 4x xlr ala the hpx500.

They only have two inputs, but always record the internal mics as well as the inputs. It would be great if the 250 had four actual inputs, but I'd be happy with the same arrangement as the hvx/hpx!
