There has been a lot of discussion on tapes, but it all seems to boil down to this.
-Don't mix brands, stick with one tape.
-Good tape is cheap, why take chances.
-You have a $3000+ cam for a reason - you want the best quality, use quality tape.
-People selling a used DVX will advertise 'Only MQ tape used" as a selling point for good reason.
I do not know if lesser quality panny tapes are 'unsafe', and I will never know in this camera of mine
Umm, I guess never is a strong word. If MQs went to $20+ I might consider something else..
I bought a 100A camera recently and ran off to shoot and without thinking about tape stock too much, I just bought what I had always used with my pd150 -- Sony DVCam tape.
Then in doing some research on the camera it became clear to me that there are some issues with the differenct manufacturers and the tapes they produce being wet or dry etc.
If i started using the Sony dvcam tapes, should i just stick with them? Or should i switch to the panasonic MQ? or should i have the heads cleaned and then switch to MQ?
kerthyfix,
I guess no one with the answer to your question saw this (your first) post. I have my own opinion on the subject, but you'd rather have an expert. Try posting a new thread. You could get a great answer or several pretty good answers to choose from
