Panasonic tape- High end vs Low end

Hello everyone,

Ive got a mixed batch of tape from a trip where I shot both Panasonics DVM63MQ tapes and some regular grade Panasonic DVM60 tapes (black enclosure with dark blue tape guard). Would I be fine capturing both types of tape with my camera without worry of having to clean the heads between changes?
thanks

This really becomes an issue when changing BRANDS of tape more so than different offerings within the same brand. Different manufacturers use different types of lubricant on the tape itself, some of which don't play well together. (Panasonic and Sony being one that doesn't).

Best to pick a brand and stay with it (buy extra!). Never, ever use the really cheap
tapes of any brand - they're cheap for a reason and you won't like the results - neither will your camera.

Use a consistent brand of quality tape (panasonic is good) and your heads can go a looong time between washes.

Yes, that's fine, no need to clean simply because of that.

Thanks for the input.

It was during travel in Ecuador where I couldnt find more than one cheap grade of Panasonic to shoot with after I was fresh out of the hi end tapes- MQs. Course all tape over there is pricey to begin with never mind if its hi end.
