PANASONIC SUPPORTS ASPIRING FILMMAKERS

Panasonic showed its commitment to independent filmmaking by awarding the top winners of TriggerStreet.com's Short Film Festival with a Panasonic AG-DVX100 24p Mini-DV camcorder. Co-founded by two-time Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti, web-based TriggerStreet.com allows filmmakers and screenwriters the opportunity to showcase original short films and have them critiqued by their peers.

At the award ceremony held during the Tribeca Film Festival, Stuart English, Panasonic Broadcast's Vice President of Marketing, second from left, presents AG-DVX100s to top short film winners. From left to right are: Matt Kovalakides, award winner for film "Tenth"; English; Richard Heald, award winner for "In Absentia", Matthew Thompson, award winner for "Sleep", and Kevin Spacey.

"When a beautiful and successful palm reader finds herself romantically pursued by an arrogant photographer, she uses her special powers to find out if the love and the man are worth it. A romantic comedy possessed of mystical magic, sultry jazz, ancient wisdom, love and a glowing Topaz...Zaharr touches the lives of all the unsuspecting souls who cross her path in Old French Quarter, New Orleans."
I am seeking $375,000 to shoot this feature with (2) DVX100p's and will record sound on 8-track DA-98. I will edit on Final Cut Pro 4 with Cinetools and transfer to Kodak 5245 35 mm. When Harry Met Sally, Chocolat, Cabaret, Amelie are similar genre. I have the full support of the City of New Orleans, a $37,500 tax credit from the Great State Of Louisiana. Irvin Mayfield, Grammy nominee, Billboard Artisist Of The Year is scoring this film. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for someone who can bankroll this production and become our Executive Producer. We intend to showcase this in Cannes.

Re: PANASONIC SUPPORTS ASPIRING FILMMAKERS

i had a short up on triggerstreet.com for their first and second annual online festivals and there were a lot of problems with how the site was regulated for the first one. not sure how it is now. i was in the running as a top ten leading up to the awards. but the way the site worked, anyone, even brand new members, could vote for shorts, so at the last minute, contestants would send out mass emails to all their friends asking them to view and vote for their short and also write a negative review for all the other top ten shorts. overnight the entire top ten list was changed almost completely. we found out this happened because they altered the regulations for the second festival to prevent new members from voting without meeting certain requirements. i'm still a little bitter about the whole thing but i did get some great exposure.
