Panasonic Scene File Packages

I came across this Panasonic resource center web site. I noticed there are scene file packages available for cameras ranging from the UX90 to the EVA1. Cool.

P.S. I downloaded the scene file package for the CX350. I hope Panasonic adds additional scene files as they become available. I would love to have a scene file designed to give skin tones a "natural" look. Not overly warm or sharp.

Although Panny has published scene files for their more recent cams and of course there are the ones that were shipped with the cams, IMHO, most need more tweaking. They will give you a good place to start. If you are in deep enough to be worrying over individual skin tones, you will want to test shoot your talent to adjust the settings for them individually, or have one for light, brown or black skin talent. Of course this is a very subjective topic. You might also look at the scene files published by Barry Green.
 
As far as I have been able to determine Barry's scene files for the UX180, UX90, and DVX200 are no longer available at Panasonic's site. Clicking the "download" button that purports to link to them goes to Barry's YouTube video on UX scene files instead. Hopefully the scene files have not been made unavailable intentionally, and assuming that is the case the links should be corrected.

I have no idea if this is true or not. But please send a request to our Panasonic Support link and it will get to the appropriate person.

BTW, in addition to the useless download links for the UX180, UX90, and DVX200 scene files that are provided via the link indicated in this thread's original post, the scene file link shown near the bottom of the website page for each of these cameras goes to a non-existent page. For example, the scene file link near the bottom of this page:

... goes to:

http://www.provideo.life/UX180scenefiles

... which doesn't exist.

I reported all of that in my request to Support.

Also, btw, some members of the Facebook user group on the UX180 & UX90 recently mentioned having encountered the same issues.

I think some of this happens because of a mix of the Panasonic US and the Panasonic global websites. When one or the other makes changes it doesn’t necessarily filter to the sister site, creating dead links. We try to track them down but sometimes stuff slips through.
 
It is now nearly a month since I promised in my previous post to report back when I received a response to my inquiry to Panasonic about the missing scene files. I have not reported back during that time because I have not yet received a meaningful response, and Barry's scene files for the UX180, UX90, and DVX200 are still not available at the Panasonic website.

My inquiry on 7-28-2019 was sent in the form of an email to provideosupport@us.panasonic.com. That email has never been answered. During the evening of Friday 8-9-2019 I submitted a similar inquiry via the support request form on the Panasonic website. On the following Monday morning, 8-12-2019, I received a response from a Mr. Hin at that same email address (provideosupport@us.panasonic.com) forwarding my web submittal to a Mr. Sadkowski for further action. I have heard nothing since. On 8-15-2019 I sent a polite email to both of those gentlemen, thanking Mr. Hin for promptly forwarding my request and indicating that "I’m hoping for a response on this in the near future."

Your emails have been received and we are looking into this. A lot of people (including myself) go on vacation during August so sorting what happened to old links and getting them restored can take a bit. But it hasn’t been ignored.
 
I'm at NAB NY. Spoke with Steve Cooperman, Panasonic Senior Product Manager, about additional scene files for the CX350. Steve said he will talk to Barry about creating a specific scene file for skin tones. Glad the Panasonic guys here at the show are willing to listen to customer requests.
 
I have not looked on Panasonic's website, so I might be off base but I would like to see a scene file based upon the normal HD gamma but with better highlight retention. Imho highlights or DR in the highlights are a weak point for the camera. Filmlike3 has better highlights but the rest of the image gets kind of sacrificed.
