Panasonic Promotion, HMC40 & Blu-ray Player

Finally got mine about a week ago. It is the new model.

This is the last time I will do a promo of this type with Panny. I have done three promos with them going back to my DVX. Each time, it sucked. They have been consistently late each time and the rebate center is pretty much a joke, giving me little info and no solid dates. I have owned several service businesses over the last twenty plus years, and if I gave that type of service to my customers, I would have never have made it.

I PMd Jan L. in early April to gripe and she was helpful and sympathetic, but unable to speed the process.

I know a rebate promo can be done in a timely fashion if a company tries. Tascam and Maxell got checks and equipment rebates to me within 10 days on recent purchases which was simply outstanding.

Considering the comments going back years to the infamous wait for DVX batteries, it seems to me that Panny has only succeeded in making people angry with this type of wait forever promos. I wish they would take a new tack and just include the stuff with purchase. Make it clean and simple = good business.

B&H is an authorized dealer, Amazon is not. The warranty repair center requires a copy of your purchase invoice if you send your camera in for repair, as does the rebate form. Just something to think about.

Why would they say this? I just bought a HMC-40 from Amazon - referred to Amazon by Panasonic Tech Support. The unit was the HMC-40JPU - i.e. the units shipped by FedEx directly to the retailer. The FedEx label was still on the JPU outer carton and it was shipped from Panny directly to Amazon.com.

Anyway, thanks for the tip on the player, I will submit. Don't mind waiting 4-5 months...free is free :2vrolijk_08:

Seriously... a free mid-end BRD player is just that: A FREE PLAYER. You're getting a decent Blu-Ray player for free. Panasonic just saved you $150, give or take. I wouldn't mind the wait. If I absolutely had to have a Blu-Ray player in a certain amount of time, I would not count on a free promotional item to get it.

Got mine about a month ago. As someone else said: free is free. I didn't buy the HMC40 because it came with a blu-ray player, i don't mind waiting for something i don't even have to pay shipping on. Nice to be able to screen footage without running it through the computer. Not as versatile as the PS3 at playing files off of USB devices, etc, but still very useful in our studio.

ShugPro,

My dad would say, "Free is good!"

The ability to play the cards directly AND using Toast 10, play AVCHD HD disks is a real plus.
