Panasonic P2 card reader to Thunderbolt?

I will soon be upgrading to a new Mac Pro computer with OSX El Capitan and wonder if I can connect my P2 card reader AJ-PCD20 to it via a Thunderbolt-to-Firewire adapter and the P2 driver/viewer software for El Capitan. Any information and suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
 
I haven't used a Panny card reader with my trashcan Mac Pro, but have used numerous other firewire devices via adapter, all without any issues.

This is a late response but,
i have that same reader and it is USB, isn't it? How would that work through TB and FireWire? Am I wrong. I just used mine yesterday on my new Mac Mini, through USB. Stinking fast transfer speeds.
