Hello neighbors, Well here's my problem. I bought this JVC Dual Deck VCR before I bought my DVX, http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...591&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation. I like to use this Deck to import to FCP but when I play back one of my DVX tapes on this Deck, it has to many cracks so I have no choice but to import with my DVX. Do you guys think this deck is to consumerish? Which one of these 2 decks do you guys think will play the footage with no problem? 1.http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...896&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation OR 2.http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...824&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation. The thing is that I dont want to keep using my DVX to import. Thanks for any suggestions.

The deck you have should play the DVX tapes properly. Are you using the same brand tapes in the DVX that the deck is used to? When I got my first DVX, I used the top of the line Panasonic tapes only to find most of my clients used Sony tapes and mine were clogging the heads in their VTRs. So, I cleaned the heads in my DVX and switched to DVCAM tapes and everything has worked great ever since.

The biggest issue with the Mini DV decks is the record time limitation. If you have plans to produce anything over an hour long, you need a deck that works with the full size DV tapes.

Here's the thing, I edit Weddings for a Studio but some videographers have different type of cameras so I get different types of mini-DV tapes (Sony,Panasonic, etc.) I need a VTR that will play these tapes perfectly. My budget is $1,500, any suggestions?

Sony has a deck for around 1500 that should do the trick. Sony's tend to play everything. Oh and I personally think that JVC dual deck is crap. I had one at my old job.

Eightball:
Somebody said that he owned the same JVC deck that you have and he sent it
for repair many times...and JVC tech dept said that it a consumer model with not very good parts in it ,they recommend the prosumer -option #1 that you posted of $829 in B&H
Cesar.
