Panasonic MC70 shotgun mic issues.

I bought a MC70 mic for my HPX170.
When I plug it into channel 2, I get no audio. I have phantom power on both channel 1 and 2 in the on position. Nothing.

If I plug it into channel 1, I get sound, but only on one channel.
Is this normal?
I plug any other mic into channel 2 and I get both channels to sound.

What am I missing?

Might be something not set properly in the HPX170s menu .. check that out.
