Panasonic Laid Off My Sales Rep.

Today I found out that my Panasonic regional sales rep. was laid off yesterday. Don't know how many others in the sales dept. lost their jobs around the country. Sign of the times.

We lost two sales people. You new guy will be commuting up from Los Angeles. Sharp guy, I am sure you will like him. At least his current customers do, his name is Doug Leighton.

I myself am very wary of buying anything right now unless I know I can make it back.
The big studio pictures aren't affected as much, but lower budget indie films are most certainly at the mercy of private equity, especially in the less than $2 million budget range.
Private equity has dried up. Productions are fewer, and yet the labor pool is greater.
It's a tough deal. It makes much more sense for me anyways just to rent gear according to the job.

I'm a big fan of Doug's here in LA. I've seen him at many P2 seminars, and he's always knowledgeable and helpful.
