Panasonic HVX200A Audio 4 Channel Recording Question

Hey all, I have an audio question with the HVX200A. The camera features a way for 4 channels to record audio directly into the camera in P2 HD Mode. What we are looking to do is record 2 input XLR channels, and then have the internal mic to serve as the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] & 4[SUP]th[/SUP] channel. Is there a way to control the internal mic at all?
Is there a way to possibly record audio via the RCA audio inputs, and then connect 2 audio inputs through the xlr? Would there be a way to control all the audio inputs?
We normally shoot with an on field mixer with 3 channels of audio, and are looking to get rid of the mixer and save our editor more time by going directly into the camera. Any information or ideas are greatly appreciated, thanks!

There is no problem to record in 4-channel mode, as you say. The problem is that you can only control ch 1 and ch 2nd. The camera controls the internal mic on CH 3 and 4.

As far as I know there is no way to control ch 3-4.

You may be able to switch the internal mikes to be controlled by the camera pots and use your mixer to control the external mikes input...still have the mixer, but all sound is on the p2 card.

What would be the exact process in the menu settings to change this?
Thanks for all the response guys...

It's not in the menus. Just set the channel 1 input to INT MIC L and the channel 2 input to INT MIC R. That automatically moves the XLRs onto channels 3 & 4, and on an HVX200 they're always brought in on 3 & 4 at a fixed audio level which corresponds to the audio dials at top dead center.

Barry,

HPX170 here.

If you do that, do the line - mic level switches still work for the corresponding XLR plugs? They are labeled channel 1, and channel 2 but of course are adjacent to their respective plugs.
