Panasonic GS5 Rumor - 24mbps AVCHD and EVF

43rumors.com (http://43rumors.com/ft2-panasonic-gs5/) is reporting a rumor that the anniversary of the G1 introduction in Q4 09 will be celebrated with a new m4/3 EVF body with 1080 60p (17 mbps) and 1080 30p (24 mbps). No mention of 24p but I can't see them leaving it out if this rumor is real. The EVF is supposed to go to refresh rate of 360Hz to give a much better image.

I just was told that my GH1 is at the store. I really need a better codec, but I don't like the ergonomics, lack of EVF, and inability to accept the wide variety of lenses in the Canon 7d.

Wish this rumor was from a known source, but Panasonic has to do something quick - and actually deliver product to USA on introduction. The rumor mentions the possibility of the introduction being pushed to Q1 10.

these rumor websites are nothing more than bogosity. for almost a year a supposed nikon d400 was supposed to come out with full 1080p and what not w/a d90 firmware upgrade. any one person can email and say something about a camera and it'll get posted. was there ever a d90, gh1 or a 7d rumor?
 
Rumors stop when they become reality, like it indeed happened with the D90, GH1, 7D, D300s, etc.,etc., etc. Which is the problem with the Scarlet by example, it should have been a rumor but instead it became a brochure. So that way it became a reality in people's minds before its time. Way before.

you gotta hit me with the rumor links. the d90 showed up here on the boards way before any rumors. when the d90 just hit the scene, people said they were keeping their eyes on a micro 4/3rd video system but never called it a gh1. and it seemed like the 7d just came out of left field. and i can start a rumor stating that the panasonic is going to make a better gh1, but it's just expected. most credible rumors hit the scene like a day before the actual product is announced. but never have i seen these so called rumors of these camera's come to light. like the awesome touch screen d400 and 1080p nikon. whatever.
 
More rumors? That means more bickering over which camera is better, right? :(

Can the mods create a completely separate area of the forum for rumors and comparisons/debating, and then limit those topics to that area?

I personally haven't been around much the last several days partly because every other thread had at least one post about 7D vs GH1 or something like that. I want to come here for GH1 info and only GH1 info.
 
Couple of things don't stack up...

1080p 60p doesn't exist as a video format.
At 17mps it would fall apart even worse than 24p
360hz view finder seems strange and unnecessary for shooting 60p video
20mm F1.7 is a very strange choice as kit lens, lacks HD (video) optimised features?
What is a global shutter?

Like the idea of the higher resolution LCD though but please Panasonic keep rotating.
 
The Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2000 has a Full-HR mode, i.e. 1920x1080 @ 60fps @ 24Mbps (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264), so I guess 1080p @ 60fps is possible? (not that it matters regarding this rumor)
 
Global shutter would remedy all jello but there no such CMOS sensors on the market yet. 24mbps would be nice thou :) Can't be to hard to implement if the hardware is up to speed.
