I've been working with the 4k Panasonic GH4 lately, and there's two things I just can't figure out. If anyone can shed some insight, I'd be grateful.
1. If I'm connected to an external HDMI monitor and switch into playback mode to review recorded clips, I cannot control any playback functions. This is because playback functions are controlled via the camera's touchscreen OLED, but when the camera is connected to an HDMI output, the OLED screen is disabled. Is there any way to enable the OLED screen and the HDMI output simultaneously? Or is there a way to control playback without the touchscreen OLED?
2. From the GH4 I output HDMI to a TVLogic LCD 5.6" monitor that cross converts HDMI to SDI. I want to send SDI from The TVLogic monitor to a Panasonic 17" HD-SDI monitor for producers and clients to watch. When I try to do this, the Panasonic 17" monitor will not accept the 24p SDI signal from the TVLogic monitor. It will accept the signal if I switch the camera into 30p, but not 24p. This happens regardless of the camera format/resolution settings (4k or HD, MP4 or MOV). I cannot understand why the 30p signal is supported, but the 24p signal is not. I have sent a 24p SDI signal to this same Panasonic monitor using a Panasonic AF100 camera in the past, so I know the monitor supports 24p. What is happening with the GH4 / cross converted TVLogic signal that is different/not compatible? When in 4k resolution, I have the camera HDMI down convert set to 1080p - 30p works fine, 24p not supported by monitor.
thanks ahead of time for any help and insight!
