43rumors just got this "information" today, and by the way it is redacted/given details, looks like it could be true...

-------

GH2 will have new designed image sensor.

~14MP LiveMOS supports 1080/60p(up to 24Mbps) AVCHD movie, global shutter, multiple-aspect.
~EVF:360Hz;RGBx120Hz SXGA(target), which can tilt forward&backward
~LCD(vari-angle):960xRGBx540 guarterFullHD(HITACHI Displays, a affiliate company of Panasonic)
~AF will get a little bit more faster, SDXC, HDMI real-time output, Bluetooth3.0(target)
~colors:GRAPHITE BLACK, TITANIUM, MIDNIGHT BLUE VIOLET
~kit:14-140mm/F4.0-5.6 HD OIS, 12-75mm/F2.5-3.3 HD OIS(target)

-------

I must say I'm pretty excited with all this !
GH2 vs GH1 comparison:

Video: 1080p60/24mbps vs 1080p30/17mbps
EVF: movable 1280×1024 vs fixed 800×600
LCD: 960×540 vs 480×320
Card: SDXC vs SDHC
Out: realtime HDMI vs basic HDMI

And I would love having the GH2 with the second kit lens mentionned: “12-75mm/F2.5-3.3″
which is far more interesting that the only available for GH1 (which starts at F4.0).

any way the mods can just create a section for rumors? these threads get flooded with them. just not worth having to sort through the several different threads of people's wish lists and hear say.

I agree it's unfortunate folks have created separate threads for what's really just one continuous stream of GH1-related rumors. A "Micro 4/3 Rumors" section might be a good solution. So even when someone inevitably posts a new rumor into the general section, at least the mods would have a place to "move" it to.

Meanwhile, I have a "teachable moment" question concerning this particular rumor:

The mention of a "global shutter" (twice) in this rumor seems really far-fetched. I might be mistaken, but isn't CMOS global shutter technology very expensive/rare? Even RED's new cameras won't have a true global shutter, and they'll be much more expensive than what a "GH2" is likely to sell for:

This doesn't make the rumor completely invalid, but perhaps the source of the rumor mistook "reduced skew" for "global shutter".

The only thing hat gh1 did not have a lot was skew. So even more improved jello would be almost perfect. The things I would personally like to see improved are the mud and the low light banding. And to take it a little far maybe the color code. Everything else for me is fine as is now.

This peaks my interest the most. This would be the PERFECT lens for what I shoot!! I really hope this comes out. I would sell the 14-140 lens in a heartbeat if I could get a fast 12-75!

they better not release a GH2 a few months after GH1 was widely available in the United States.
Well its not going to be released. Dont worry.
If it is true, it is going to be announced. And we all know how long it takes for release after the announcement. And the world is not the USA. In the rest of the world it exists for almost a year.

This rumor is weak... come on now, whoever's making this crap up could at least get technicals right so that it seems more plausible.

1080/60P AVC-HD? ... no.

I want that lens rumor to be true badly! I mean, that alone would be gigantic news if true but I fully agree, some of those rumors are really pushing it. It looks more like someone's wish list.

It seems to be taken from a wishlist posted on the vime group, and it is weak at that. Check out the original, and the response from the person who posted the original speculation:

I believe this Rumor is from somebody who read my original post above and put together a wishlist and then posted it as a rumor. I am the only one I've seen who talks about the issue of a global shutter, and yet, in this "rumor" no mention is made of how they would managed to implement a global shutter in CMOS. People without the electronics background I have seem to think that "global shutter" is just a feature you add.... but it is not, it is a non-trivial thing to do with a CMOS chip. (And going to CCD is highly unlikely at this point.)

I believe I can thus debunk this rumor. If panasonic has found a way to do a global shutter in CMOS, fantastic. Quite possibly they are doing this in conjunction with a "backlight" type sensor, which would help in making a global shutter to some extent.

But without an explanation of how they managed such a breakthru, this rumor does not hold up to scrutiny. Not to mention that there is no differentiation between the G2 model and the GH2 model in the rumor, and the laundry list of features-- someone with that much knowledge would have more detail, and most people with real knolwedge only know particular aspects of the feature set.

I believe this rumor is nothing more than wishful thinking, unfortunately.

PS- Also, we have global shutter plus the frame rate at 1080 is doubled to 60FPS? This represents 2 generations of improvement in sensor design. Maybe in 2012 or late 2011 this could happen--- but to get both at once would be very highly unlikely. IT represents a spectacular break thru on Panasonic's part.

Its not impossible, but if it happened, it would be huge news, and put Panasonic well ahead of every other maker-- ahead of Canon, Sony, Nikon, etc. Well ahead.

For a rumor monger they are two features that its easy to just assert are going to be there, because to someone who doesn't understand sensors, the significance of getting both is easily lost.

J J Abrams has confirmed that his 3rd Trek film will be a remake of 1979's " StarTrek the motion picture" This time it is a Panasonic GH1 that gets lost in space , only to return to earth hundreds of years later , amassing different alien technologies and expanding its physical dimension by miles on its journey . It comes back to earth looking for its creator..apparently even in the 23rd century it still can't record 24mbps :( ..

i sh*t u not !! can't wait for this movie :)

pffff
Panasonic just kick the ass of gh1 user if this gh2 coming out... I'm gh1 user and very want this new feature for gh1 like every one!!! and not be obliged to buy another one to make film in a real 1080p mode!!!
Canon 7d is very cool for this and i usually ask myself if it will good for my work to buy 7D or else 5D mark III one day... instead of this GH2 Panasonic's joke!!!
