Good work so far. There are some shots that I really like in there. Some though, not so much. Some shots your lighting is very good. Some shots, however the lighting could be better. A little more work on that and some of your shots would come out much better I think. Anyway, here is some (hopefully helpful) constructive criticism. Much of it you've probably already noticed yourself. I sometimes read crits and think, of course, I know that. But as a critic, you never know, so I'll just point things out as I see them:
-Some of those city shots are beautiful. Some I wish there was a little more light on the talent.
-The two guys sitting next to the water, primarily (at around 1:30) could have definitely used some fill light.
-The shot of the falling king in slow motion doesn't fit IMO. I think the shot could just be better composed. Looks pretty generic. It stuck out to me as home video ish.
-The shot of the guy sitting at the computer also stuck out as looking like a home video shot with the white walls and mediocre lighting.
-Love the shot at 1:55 of the guy in the car. Good lighting there.
-I like the close shot in the phone booth at 2:30. Looks cinematic.
-At 2:36 the medium shot of the phone booth, his face is too dark. Much prefer the lighting in the close shot.
-3:00 Really like the shot of his coffee, next shot, though, wish you could have re-shot that to be in focus.
-3:48 A suggestion, see you if you could use a different mix technique for the titles over the top. Like Overlay, or linear light, or maybe even difference to invert whatever is behind them.) I think it would make them more interesting. Right now they look kind of plain. Maybe give them a little movement too. I like the split shots though. Just another thought. Maybe make one of the two images (either the actor or the party scene) high contrast with grain to kind of distinguish the two shots. Just think it might look cool.
Anyway, hope that's informative and helpful. And ultimately it's just my honest opinion, and opinions aren't right or wrong.
Good job overall. It's a good video as is, but it has potential to be better. Really concentrating on good lighting will go a long way toward taking your next video to the next level.
