RUMOR is announce sept 25 release first half 2019? Attempt to combat canon and nikon new cams? No official details yet. super 35? Leica SL mount or new pana or olym/pana??

I wonder if Panasonic could design a lens mount or adaptor for their New Full Frame Camera that would also accommodate the use of MFT Lenses. If they could a lot of us that are invested in MFT Lenses would be very happy.

What would be the point in buying a full frame camera but using it with MFT lenses?

I think full frame for video would be a step back unless you are only shooting fully rigged movies but if you do why not take a large video camera instead of some DSLR looking "pocket' camera with a grip?

With the GH5 I can have a 24-120mm and 100-200mm (full frame equavalent) zooms on the road easily, for full frame I would need weight lifting classes to keep the lenses up for a long time.

An announcement of an announcement on 9/25.

I really like what Panasonic have done with GH5/GH5s/EVA1 for the value they are to me right now but that said, I'm not brand loyal, not cheering their announcement or holding off on any purchases. They obviously have a good lead in mirrorless video over Canon/Nikon/Sony/Fuji/Olympus because they are the only one to combine IBIS, 5K 16x9 internal 10 bit 422 400 mbps, DCI 4k 60p, compliant 10 bit HLG recording, HDMI and SDI timecode sync, dual slot recording, mic-in/headphone-out, no 30 minute recording limit and proper flip out LCD.

But other than to join the full frame ranks, it's not clear what immediate benefit to Panasonic nor its partners. Olympus with their successful MFT lens system may not be eager to go along. Leica SL mount sees an opportunity but Nikon and Canon still photographers will not be motivated to abandon their glass. Panasonic like Sony now has a pro-cam lineup to protect. The real need comes from 8k, to meet customer expectations for low light and DR, large photo sites are still required so you need a large sensor for 8k. But Panasonic is not going to jeopardize steady earnings for a short term bump by bringing out its best effort with the first release. I would expect the FF cam not to be 8k, not for now until they've had buy-in for SL mount glass early adoption. Then they can bring out the 8k sensor, MFT adapter with 4k crop and 8k SL mount full frame.

I'd rather see them do an APSC.

To be honest though for video the GH5S is king. Just get a phase detect auto focus system in there and IBIS.

Seems their lineup will be quite a mess? MFT, Canon EF and now a FF camera with a third mount?

A MFT mount that allows you to use a wide variety of full-frame, PL, C, and EF mount lenses with optional adapters coupled with JVC's Variable Scan Mapping or some variation of it would make sense for MFT Lens owners reluctant to invest in Full Frame Glass.

Was a major stumble by Panasonic to not offer their EVA1 in MFT mount which is after all their own lens system!!

Not at all. It would have catered to a tiny niche group of an already niche group. The vast majority of m43 users would not have switched to a m43 mount EVA-1 due to the cost. Those that would have made the move likely already own EF lenses they use with the SpeedBooster on m43 cameras so no loss at all there.

I would wager a bet that the majority of film makers actually interested in a EVA-1 to increase production value already have invested in EF lenses at some level. If they haven't they really should. EF is a no brainer at this point considering it is used on a lot of cinema cameras.
