I am using Input 2 for recording on my Panasonic
DVX100A and am getting sporadic loud static for no
apparent reason. Anyone come accross this problem?

Is it being recorded on tape, or are you just hearing it while monitoring? The headphone circuit can be a little noisy.

well if you are using a battery powered mic with a battery in it you may get this if the mic power switch on the camera is also turned on.

Buzzing sound

I just ran into this problem myself. If you are experiencing a static or buzzing sound when plugging the RCA outputs into a monitor for instance, make sure the switches on the FRONT of the Cam are set to MIC, not LINE. This drove me crazy for a week. In the other realm, I have not found using the battery or AC power to make any difference, at least in the quality of the audio. Obviously it will draw more power from a battery when recording, compared to endless using AC adapter.
Hope this helps.

be sure to deactivate the camera phantom power if the mic is battery operated. As cassese said, MIC selection in the front as well.
also check connection (mic /headphones).

Excellent advice everyone... I am using a battery powered mic,
I hear it on tape and while monitoring.. I will check the front of
the cam to make sure it's set to mic not line.
