Panasonic CMS and Snow Leopard...?

So - we all know how HORRIBLE Panasonic's website is - just trying to find anything and decipher the poor English is an exercise in absolute frustration (especially on a deadline). Now I have clients who are using Mac OS X 10.6.X (Snow Leopard) and it seems the current version of the P2 Content Management Software (CMS) isn't compatible!? This seems RIDICULOUS that Snow Leopard has been out for nearly 6 MONTHS and there's still no revision to the CMS software?

Screen grab from Panasonic's website on 2/6/10:

So - is there any other way for my client to be able to view/verify my P2 footage once it's been copied to their Mac (short of having FCP or paying hundreds of $$$ for 3rd party software from Calibrated, etc.) before I wipe my card(s) in the field?

Please help...

I migrated a mac running Leopard that contained CMS 1.4.4 to a mac running Snow Leopard. It works fine for me.

Thanks for the input. I guess I'll just try downloading and installing it - but the above notice certainly gives one pause: "NOT compatible..."

I am on my 4th Panny cam, but just began to use the Panny website. That site is about as kludgy as it can get. Who on earth did they get to do the english translation? Just trying to figure out what the software does, and what is available for a mac is a real adventure.

I ordinarily don't like to slam stuff, but for a tech company that builds great equipment, they should be embarrassed. You could throw their manuals in the same zone.

By far, the Panasonic website is a brutal exception to an otherwise great line of products. I get a nervous tick every time that I need to visit the site. I have to resist the urge to curl up in the corner and suck my thumb after the experience...

I was on their two weeks ago to download some drivers for a PCD-35, and as usual found myself ranting out loud as I tried to decipher the instructions and make my way through the maze of links. If you get a chance to fill out the survey about the site, do so and let 'em have it. ;-)

I suspect that they subcontracted the translation job out to some Japanese grade school kids who needed extra credit for their English class.

Ok, I feel a little better- rant over. ;-O

Well - an update: I downloaded and installed the latest version of the P2CMS (which claims it is NOT compatible with Snow Leopard) and it seems to be working OK. So, the Panasonic website being as wonderful as we all know it is - perhaps it just means it hasn't been TESTED with Snow Leopard but still works? Yeesh. Anyway, thanks to tommygunn for letting me know it works.

And Panasonic, PLEASE, if you're reading this (Jan?) - FIX YOUR WEBSITE! PLEASE!

Thanks for posting that, Barry. I received an email from Panasonic yesterday about it - thank you Panasonic! :)
