Panasonic Canada to announce price reduction

So it looks like I've still got the best price at $5400!
That's in Canadian dollars with full Panasonic Canada warranty. I have two left in stock at this price.

you can buy a laptop with 160 gigs HD that will come out cheaper than p2 cards..

but can you mount the laptop on the camera? A laptop would solve a lot of problems with monitoring and $$$ for space. Still trying to decide if I want to be tethered to one.

Every territory is administered by a different division of the company. There's Panasonic Asia Pacific, Panasonic USA, Panasonic Canada, etc. These are all semi-autonomous, in that they can decide to offer whatever marketing programs they choose (near as I can tell). For example, in Singapore they have a plan where you can trade in any 3-CCD camcorder for cash against the purchase price of an HVX; we here in the USA don't get that deal.

Europe used to be a lot more decentralized than it is now; there's a new Panasonic Europe to market broadcast gear to European countries (but not all of them, so you'd have to check if Panasonic EU is over your particular country). If a customer has a problem with, or a request for, their country, they'd have to contact the appropriate branch. Jan Crittenden can't do anything for a European or Latin American or Asian customer, as her territory is the USA.

of course.
i know that Jan Crittenden is doing a good job for years for US market.
we're speaking about pana europe and panasonic "the big head" who is supervising all these local pana supervisors (i hope there is somebody driving this big machine, and maybe the guy is reading dvxusers.com ;) ).
with the euro-dollar change rate, the US HVX price would be here 3800-3900€.
we have a tax in europe on everything. it's 19,7% on electronic. so the price should be 4600€. but the best price we can find in france is 6000€ and this is the best price in europe. and now with the free P2 card, we have to pay twice the price you're paying in the US for the same product (in the best case).
the special offer we have on the HVX+8G P2 card is 7700€ -> 10.000$
thats insane :)

and in The Netherlands we pay for that bundle 8585 euro exl. 19% VAT !!!!!!

We know that Jan is responsible for the US market only. I wonder who is pulling the the string at Panasonic Europe ? Maybe Jan knows it and can give us his/her e-mail address.
