Re: Panasonic Anamorphic + Chroziel Matte Box

so far i really like the concept of the anamorphic and the chrosziel was neccesary, but fit and simplicity of use, the formatt is way simpler, i wish that had worked with the anamorphic!

bang for the buck the formatt is the best deal going. the cinetactics is close but for the incremental price difference for a formatt i think the cinetactics people are going to have to lower their prices, especially if they start advertising the formatt's better.

Your french flag folds in half? That's interesting. Post some pics. I wonder what else may have changed between when you purchased your Chrosziel 411-53PK and when I bought mine. Did you get the 411-53PK set or another kit entirely?

There are no instructions save for pictures on 16X9INC's website. Which focus ring did you purchase? I'm assuming you mean the ring for a follow focus device, correct? I only have experience with Century Optics' Cine-Style Manual Focus Ring.

Also, if you purchased the mattebox seperately from the side wings you are going to have to drill your own holes. On the mattebox itself, you'll notice the drill impressions where the side wings are mounted. A 3/32 drill bit will do the trick.

Otherwise, you may send the mattebox back to 16X9INC and have them do the holes for free (shipping however is not included).

Re: Panasonic Anamorphic + Chroziel Matte Box

i haven't purchased any focus ring, the factory dvx-100 ring is the one that is binding now!

i bought the kit with everything except for the side wings or the follow focus kit.

i just didn't see the value in the follow focus rig, but the enhanced focus ring might be handy, i just don't need the wheel on the side of the camera with the gear linkage.

Hey All,
Matthewd5, you know the Century ring is a must ! They should make you buy it with the camera.
But the Follow Focus is one of those things you can't believe you lived without once you start using it. It is so easy from then on.

I use the one from JBK Cine. www.JBKCINE.com ( Jerry is very helpful) It is very cool ... lighter & cheaper than the ARRI. They make a & $750, $1000, & $2500 one. I got the $1000 for the better gear box. The big one is too heavy.

You may cuss when you buy it, but it may help you in creative / practical uses of focus.

Mine goes on before the battery.

See yea,

Steve

Hi,

Does the Chroziel Matt box fit 4x5.65 filters as well. I am just thinking of buying one and i want to be able to adjust ND Grads up and down in the frame (ie not be stuck with the grad line in the middle of the frame).

Cheers

Re: Panasonic Anamorphic + Chroziel Matte Box

i don't know what you might be able to do by changing the filter holder, but with what came with my chrosziel you can only put 4x4 filters as the filter fits within a 4x4 frame and there is no room for anything outside the 4x4 size.

with the formatt mattebox there was room for the filter to poke out the top as it didn't have a nice filter holder such as the chrosziel.

Re: Panasonic Anamorphic + Chroziel Matte Box

The 4x4 filters should give you enough adjustment of the grad-line.

Even if you were so wide that you were almost at the edges of the 4x4 filter, the aspect ratio of 4:3 means that you are not using all the height of the filter, just the width, and you have some up and down room.

Chroziel makes several types of holders for 4 x 5.650 filters, I would check with the USA distributor 16 x 9 in Burbank Ca, to see what might be compatible with your box, but as I said, I don't think it should be necessary to resort to the larger filters with this camera.
