Panasonic AG-DVX200 + Video Devices PIX-E5 + Shoulder Rig + Custom Eyecup + all day battery system.
Save a few grand and be shooting tomorrow!
The DVX200 when teamed with the Video Devices PIX-E5 becomes a quite an amazing camera system.
The highlights:
Record direct to UHD ProRes 4:2:2 10Bit with up to 8 channels of synced audio! I use the camera's two internal mics for BU and ambient. A Sennheiser MKH-416 for non-main characters and Lectro SRb receiving from Lectro wireless lavs for the main characters or others in close proximity. Works GREAT. And it's all synced right from the start!
Video Devices SpeedDrive transfers data at mSATA speeds then unplugs to transfer to computer at USB 3.0 speeds without any adapter - pure Genius!
Elegant easily gradable UHD images. Beautiful skin tones.
Touch to Focus capability for reliable scene capture with cinematic smooth transitions between reliable on-the-fly focus decisions.
Very effective In-Camera Image Stabilization. If you can hold kind of still it will look like you shot on sticks. If you are moving it's darn near as good as a gimbal.
I set it up so the DVX200 shows histogram, audio levels, white balance superimposed on image PLUS the Touch-to-Focus Point Selection.
PIX-E5 shows battery level as a voltage, waveform, recording status, and aux. audio levels also superimposed on image.
SSD recording from the PIX-E5 and 14.8v 10000mAh Lipo Battery let you record all day!!
(The ridiculously high cost of camera batteries makes crazy so I knew I wanted a better solution. The RC community engineers provided well. Built a battery box that can hold up to two batteries but found that one battery balances the rig nicely and lasts all day.)
Rig is shoulder mount, with eyecup open on the bottom for Touch-to-Focus. I will NEVER do focus any other way in the future. Very reliable way to achieve great takes while doing run-and-gun style shooting. Dream come true for shooting conversation where focus must change back and forth to the person who is speaking.
Right thumb controls Zoom and Speed of the Zoom.
Included USB WiFi adapter to enable iPad Control. Nice for jib control.
***PLEASE NOTE***
HEADPHONES, Sennheiser MKH-416, and LECTROSONIC SRb Dual Channel Receiver ARE NOT INCLUDED.
