After going to the DVX100B links above, are there any new features that would make you absolutely want to wait for the DVX100B instead of getting the DVX100A now?

Proper display of the 16x9 squeeze mode on the LCD. I work in 16x9 exclusively and don't always get to us a field monitor, so to me this is worth waiting and the extra cash. I would have had to buy the Century Optics 16x9 LCD converter to view 16x9 with the 100a anyway. Having to not deal with that is worth the little extra cash to me.

So let me ask the million dollar question???

When is this camera actually going to be available?? I thought it was supposed to October? I realize October is not over but with no actual press release in the US yet, just how much longer until we can get our grubby little mits on this badboy?

Am I reading the specs correctly and that the DVX-100B allows for wired remote focusing? Does this mean it supports LANC? or would we still have to get a zoom controller. If this feature exists will it work while working in 24p?

It does allow for remote focus, but it is not LANC. It would require a newly-engineered remote focus unit, presumably VariZoom and others will introduce them soon. And yes, it would work with 24P. It also allows for remote iris control too.
 
This pic below is from the DVX100B brochure using a Bogen remote connected to some other dual switch device. What can you comment about that setup?

That is a prototype im pretty sure, although 2 toggle switches to control the iris and the focus doesn't really make much sense... unless of course the extra port was more of a selector to what the other port functioned as... but i doubt it.
 
DVX100B is showing today & tomorrow in Wash. DC area at Pro Products Tech Fair. At first I thought is was just a black 100A, but the rep had a sheet (would not give me) of 24 improvements over the 100A.
Can't remember them all but they include -

- remote port handles focus & iris as well as zoom.
-LCD finder shows unsqueezed anamorphic
-one button to turn on/off LCD info
-external vol. control on top of camera works even when LCD is closed
-reinforced steel tripod mount
-slightly improved s/n

Gee, that's only 6 that i remember so far....


-5400ma batt. comes standard .....

forgot to ask about availabilty. same msrp as DVX100A, but no $500 rebate.

The focus/iris control will be the same as the HVX, actually, it looks like all the improvements are also on the HVX (and that makes sense)
Hopefully, panasonic is going the same route as with the zoom control, even though lanc is a standard used by many cameras, I liked the simple to DIY method pana used, if I can build one for the focus/iris that will be great (it lokks like a switch that determines what the old zoom control changes)

btw, did the DVX100A not come with 5400 battery?, here in Israel it did

first they said it would be out by the end of Sep.

I thought there were controllers out there that controlled iris and zoom too; but I guess this is a new one because it has two ports.

mic twice as sensitive, that's a VERY good one

but didn't they say it was gonna have better image sensor, a lil' higher res????

why NO true 16x9? that would've made it a xtra super real winner

so no rebate? and they're gonna wait till the 100a rebate program ends to introduce this?

I really don't know what to do now.
wonder when will buydig get them?
