Hi all.

I just bought an AG-AF101E and now I have to buy a good head and a good video tripod, as well as a matte box and a follow focus. What do you recommend? The use that I will be main take to shoot films.

Sergio.

Well, what's your budget? What lenses do you use? What accessories i.e. on board monitors, external recorders, etc ?

For now I just need what I wrote. The maximum weight provided between the body and lenses will not exceed 15 kg.
I will use my Pentax 35mm lens and a zoom RED 18-85 T2.9.
The budget should not exceed $ 10,000

Sergio.

The reason I asked is because weight will obviously affect tripod choice. An AF100 with a Lumix zoom weights a lot less than AF100 with Zeiss CP.2, rod plate, rods, on board monitor and an external recorder for example. Also, if you will be shooting mainly with primes you will definitely want a mattebox with a swing away system, since you would need to take off the mattebox "2,500" times in a feature shoot if you didn't have one. And although most cheapo mattebox these days are swing away a lot of them will just not last when you use primes and really have to heavily use the swing away system. If you are mainly using a zoom or two you will need it much less. Things like these add up and should be considered in my opinion. I like Sachtler and O'Connor tripods. For MB and FF I would go with a brand name if you can afford. By that I mean mid range and up. Avoid the lower end stuff if you can.

Spend as much as possible on the best tripod you can get - to properly take the weight of that huge RPZ 18-85 you'll want to look at something like a Miller 25, Sachtler Video 18 or better. O'Connor tripods are awesome but very very expensive. Shoot 35 do nice swing away matteboxes and a good follow focus, though if i were you I wouldn't worry about a follow focus with the RPZ as it has a good long throw on it already.

The live audio I handle with my sound bag with a Sound Devices 788T-SSD and a wireless system Sehnneser EW-100 G3 that is not the best, but at the moment is just fine.
I realized that Sachtler or O'Connors are a good choice. But they are also for the follow focus or mattebox or it should choose some other brand?

If you want the absolute best for a mattebox and follow focus go Arri or Chosziel. But they are also the priciest.
