Panasonic ag-af100p with Canon EOS lenses: 20mm f/2.8

Hi, I'm new to the forum and to video camera ownership. I have looked extensively to try and find a post on this, with no joy, so apologies of it's already come up and please direct me to any previous.

I was fortunate enough to come into ownership of a Panasonic ag-af100p with Canon EOS lenses: 20mm f/2.8. I'm having trouble with aperture. I was advised to put the lens on a Canon DSLR and dial it completely out to 2.8, in order to control the aperture manually with the adaptor that I bought (it's a no frills non branded one, with no markings for the f stops, just grooves), which I did. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have made a difference and the aperture still seems the same. Can anyone offer any advice on this area or has anyone been through this.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Your post says lenses but you only list one lens...

So my question would be, do you have a large collection of Canon lenses? If so, there are electronic adaptors like this one: http://www.adorama.com/RRLALMCAEF.html?gclid=CNuV782g8rICFURxQgodgDUAtw

That will let you actually control the real aperture of the lens.

But if you only have one Canon lens... my advice would be to sell it and buy M4/3 lenses for the AF-100 (or older vintage prime lenses that have built in aperture control). Panasonic makes a 20mm F1.7 lens specifically for M4/3 cameras like the AF-100.

Those non-electronic adapters with their own built in iris tend to cause a lot of problems with different lenses... or so I hear...

That's the original LiveLens for 35mm adapters.
The Redrock Micro LiveLens active lens mount for Canon EF lenses is the first lens mount for 35mm adapters that let's you control the aperture of Canon EF lenses.
This is the MFT one:
