Panasonic AG AC8. Any thoughts?

Well, glad someone posted the review form HD Warrior, I love his blog, and stay up with him quite often. I feel he is pretty Non biased. Anyhow, This camera looks very good, especially the price, I think the reason we are seeing this aggressive pricing, is because 4K Cameras are going to be coming on strong in 2014. This pricing makes it hard for me. I want a 4K camera, for better cropping, color grading, and warp stabilizing. I'm shooting a GH3 and really love it. but have been wanting to get a second camera, been debating on a Mirrorless, Cinema and a camcorder. Really like the 21x zoom. Tough times with so many choices.
 
That camera is looking very interesting. I do not believe it has a remote jack which eliminates it for jib use. My other concern is still low light until I see some real world hands on. Thanks for the videos
 
No reflection on HD Warrior, but the kitchen was lit up like a football stadium. So, like others, I am awaiting real life testing. I hope the picture does not become soft like the Sony CX series under lowlight which sacrifices resolution for compressing the grain.
 
I was going to pull the trigger on this camera and then I found out that there is no 24P. I can't find it listed anywhere. Anyone know if this is the case?
 
I would like 24P and especially 30P (which I know it doesn't do, nor 720), but frankly what I want the camera for, 1080 60P is what I prefer if I can only have one :)(I do not use 60i) So, I'm still waiting on some real world tests....
 
looks like the European model is the best. even most "filmmakers" from the UK or the countries rocking PAL find 50p very convenient with half speed slow mo or dropping one frame for a 25p publish. 25p imo is just as good as 24p for film like motion. So I guess the Europeans and the Brits win on this won. Downsampling your project from 1080/60p to 720/30p is not a problem, and plus you can always configure your playback settings.

For me 60p is perfect for event shooting and corporate.

It does have progressive -- it has 1080/60p and 720/60p. It doesn't have slow-frame-rate progressive (24p or 30p). It's also far, far, far cheaper than any other Panasonic AG... B&H has it listed at $1200.
 
Sure enough, I just re-read the spec sheet- I stand corrected. Does anyone know if it has time and date stamps?

Awesome! Congrats on the new camera! Does it have a smooth variable start and stop to the zoom?

Also, it does not have a remote jack for a zoom controller, correct?
 
I just finished shooting some tests with the JVC GY-HM70E. I added a Sigma Circular Polarizer and to my surprise with various good manual white balances I achieved some shots I could not get with the AG-AC8. At full 16x Dynamic zoom the JVC also achieves better color depth - for instance the green in trees - than the AG-AC8. I am more than sure it's because of the 12MP sensor and it being bigger than the other competitors at its price. Also the sound definition from the in-cam mics sound amazing! I'm surprised that this camera hasn't received more hype than the AG-AC8.

 
Any new updates or user thoughts on this camera? Very close to pulling the trigger on an AC90 but curious about the AC8. Not a ton of real life reviews of this camera out there.
