What is the difference between these two cameras?
ANybody tried both?
It's also an important distinction when it comes to support. If you purchase from a gray-marketeer a camera
that was imported from another region, Panasonic won't cover warranty work.
This is one of the most regrettable sentiments from the 20th century. Many companies that play globally (Panasonic is most definitely one of them) still claw into location-dependent hardware warranty, its limited transferrability, even some features (60fps in EU?). I like how some electronics are truly global. Cisco, for example, sells you the same Catalyst switch with SMARTnet contract anywhere and just throws in a specific location-based power cord.Best to buy one meant to be in the country you are in.

I read your posts thoroughly and appreciate your participation. This is not the issue. I do not necessarily buy the localized costs argument. Having worked in the customer support function in the Silicon Valley and beyond, most global players have implemented follow-the-sun support models and third party RMA through Unisys, Orange, and others. In the global economy, global players have less excuse to practice medieval rituals just because it's been done by their grandparents. Truth be told, customer support is typically a stepchild, regrettably. Recent studies (i.e., Six Sigma) suggest that the post-sales experiences such as CS account to over 80% of the product quality perception.Just know that talent in LA or NJ costs more than in other countries as do buildings and in Canada, the scale is even more different.
