I'm selling my Panasonic AC160 package for $3000. I used it to shoot a feature documentary that just premiered at a major festival so good things can happen with this camera. I'm investing in a much more expensive system so looking to find a new home for it.
For those not familiar, this is basically the successor to the fabled HPX170 / HVX200 line of run and gun cameras. Unlike those cameras, the AC160 natively shoots 1080 and most importantly shoots to SD Cards instead of overpriced P2 Cards. The AVCHD codec is not as good for green screen or heavy color correction but honestly I didn't see any limitations in our color grading sessions and it's perfect for web. This camera is also much better in low light than previous models, has a much sharper image, and has an iris ring adjacent to the focus ring as opposed to being on the body of the camera for quicker adjustments.
This is ideal for event filming and for documentary style run and gun work where you don't want to be changing lenses or batteries and want professional audio.
The model has been replaced by the Panasonic AC160A but the only difference is an additional auto focus feature which you can have added by mailing the camera in but I never thought it was worth the trouble.
The camera is less than two years old, is still under warranty for more than another year, and is in great condition. I purchased the camera in July 2012. I used it regularly for 4 months and only occasionally afterwards. The camera retails for $4K and comes with $500 worth of accessories including two chargers, three batteries, a LCD Monitor Hood for outdoor shooting, a UV filter which has been on the lens since the date of purchase, and all the minor accessories that came with the camera (not pictured - ac power, microphone holder, remote control, instruction manual) for a total value of $4500. A used model from B&H can be purchased for $3500 which with the accessories would come to $4000 total. I'm selling the whole package for $3000.
