Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 Leica lens back in stock

Let me see how far it goes down when M43 version gets announced officially. Lately Voigtlander 25mm 0.95 must have cannibalized the sales of the macro lens.

Awesome lens; great build quality, great IQ plus an aperture ring. I bought this lens and it instantly became my favorite. (The pancake never felt right on the GH1) $749 is a great price, but I think Stonebat has a point - with a m43 version these may get even cheaper. (Though I would be shocked if a m43 version had anywhere near the 43 version build quality)

Most people are likely to choose easier path. Even if the m43 version performs worse than the 43 version, more people will get the m43 version. Smaller and lighter. The 43 version adds extra weight for the adapter. The m43 version is likely to have faster AF. It would be nice to have shorter minimum focus distance. The Voigtlander lens has 6.7" min focus distance!!!

I completely agree with going both ways. And with Olympus also promising a fast wide and a m43 version of the excellent 50mm 2.0, it is indeed exciting times for the m43 system! I just love the fact that the 43 version has high MTF values wide open at f/1.4 which I intend to use most of the time. I also perceive the images produced by the Leica branded lens to be quite pleasing in terms of color and rendition. Either way I think it's a good deal for anyone who is interested. B&H and Adorama both list the lens for $899 currently and in terms of resell value, I believe the Panasonic Leica won't lose much in value.

It depends on market demand and supply curve. See how GH2 killed the resale value of GH1(3). 25mm focal length is getting crowded. More choice will lead to more price drop. Patience is a virtue in M43.
