Pana tapes with dsr-11

I am using the DVM63MQ tapes in camera and exclusively on new dsr11 deck.
However I just purchased the sony DVCAM tape for the DSR 11 and thought I would be heading for trouble gumming the heads. Does Pana make a tape for mastering that works on the DSR 11.

Also is anyone using the new 83 minute Pana MQ tape and it is trouble free?

thanks

The DVM63MQ tapes are mastering quality tapes. They are the same quality as the mini size DVcam tapes. I don't think you'll run into any problems using a Sony tape. Supposedly Rush from EVS uses all sorts of tape in his and has had no problems. The MQ's should be fine though. As for the 83 minute tapes, I say stay away. They are very thin, and deffinetly not as robust as a 63 minute MQ, or a DVcam tape. I would be nervous editing with them, and for me the 5 extra dollars per tape or whatever it is isn't worth the 20 extra minutes. I hear they also deposit more metal particles than a normal tape....

Hi Story, pdx is right on the money, I have used tons of MQ tapes in my DSR-11 and never had a problem.

The Panny manual expressly says not to use 83 min. tapes in the DVX.

I was wondering if the sony DVCAM tapes used in conjuction with the MQ tapes in the DSR11 will cause gumming the heads or should I use a Pana product and if so what is the product name and number?
