PAL HVX DV from FCP to tape

Hi new user from the uk just testing workflow with a demo hvx. Definately gonna be working in HD but some of the work we get had to be delivered in sd on mini dv tape, tried to do this yesterday with not much luck. I can get fcp to control the camera and start recording via the firewire port but no picture or sound. Checked on a diferent camera (sony pdx 10) and fcp is definately outputting.
Found posts by Barry stating that the camera definately does this, just wondering if there is a setting that I missed (other then the obvious like switching from p2 to tape etc) definately a PAL hvx and PAL source from fcp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've only been playing with the camera for a few days but absolutely love it allready, and I can't love enough the tapeless workflow.

If something wasn't set correctly there then surely I would have not been able to output the video successfully to the PDX 10. Is there a setting on the hvx that is burried in a menu that I might have missed?

So, you know that's not the problem by not checking it? Check the simplest and most obvious first, no matter how improbably. First rule of troubleshooting. It's the first thing I'd look at, and in fact could be the problem of seeing video on the PDX and not on the HVX. My video out is set to DVCPRO, and old GL-1 doesn't show a picture on playback.

Thanks BenB I really appreciate the help. Checked with a different sequence and it worked fine. I guess I was just having a bad day yesterday!

Yep, I have those a lot, fight with a problem that I know with every fiber of my being should in no way, shape, or form actually work that way. I very quickly end up accidentally breaking something, which means super glue and Jim Beam...

I wake up the next morning, look at what I broke and say in disgust, "What the hell were you thinking, you moron? That was really stupid! Where the f@&# was your brain, aye-hole?"

Just seems the older I get, the more I miss having perfect vision (just began wearing glasses, drives me crazy), having pretty girls watch ME walk through the mall (if I knew at 25 what I know now), and the more wasted days of shear stupidity and accidentally breaking crap I seem to have...

hmm
Right now I have a very interesting thing indeed. Back with the original footage - it plays out fine . . . . . . initially.
After about 2 minutes the audio gets choppy (starts and stops) and the video gains black squares flashing all over the place. I'm asuming this is a problem with FCP otherwise it wouldn't be good in the first place. Any ideas as to why it might be doing this?
