Pal analog through NTSC DVX firewire'd to Mac... possible? -AD conversion

hi, i was wondering if it was possible to do an analog-2-digital conversion where the analog source is in a PAL format and the DVX is ntsc.

so- PAL analog -> DVX100b ntsc -> Mac via firewire -> FCP...

anyone ever try this?

i couldn't find anything in the manual about pal/ntsc when doing an AD conversion. just says how to hook it up in general...

No it will not work. The DVX has no transcoding capabilities at all. You'll need some sort of converter between the your PAL VCR and your DVX. Google it, you'll find tones of gadgets capable of doing this. But be careful, good PAL to NTSC conversion is not cheap, so don't rely on a $100 box to do wonders.
