Okay, here's the latest from my experiments with the 50Hz HVX202 down here in New Zealand...
... using the "frame rate hack", you can indeed put the European HVX200E or Oceanic HVX202EN into 24fps, and it is an extremely close match. I don't have a full range of testing tools available to me here, but as near as I can determine, when you put the HVX202 in 24fps mode, it actually shoots at 24.03333333 fps.
Which is dang close.
I mean, it's about as close as the US version's 23.976, right? And a whole lot closer than I was expecting.
So for those who wanted and clamored for 24p in the HVX, well, you've already got it!
Now, here's the thing: it's only available in 720 mode, and if you choose to use this, you have to be aware that offspeed shooting means no sound is recorded. So if you want to use 24p on your 50Hz HVX, I'd say you'd probably be better off *not* shooting in 720/25pN mode; shoot in the 720/25p "over 50" mode and it'll record audio; then use a frame rate converter utility to strip out the duplicate frames.
Either that, or you could use 720/25pN mode at 24fps, but you'd have to record your audio separately (i.e., double-system sound).
