F55: Pairing the F55 with Ronin 2

Hi guys,

We're pairing an F55 with the Ronin 2 tomorrow, and it's not a combination I've used before. With Reds and Alexa Mini there's specific power cables they've built, but I've been through DJI's literature trying to find some info on the combination with the F55, and had no luck so for.

Does anyone know what you'd need to power the camera through the Ronin 2's battery system? (I'd prefer to avoid the added weight of a battery onboard the camera if possible).

Cheers,

Mark

The DC input is 4 pin XLR male 11-17 VDC. The actual pinout of the connector is not given in the Operating Instructions, so you either have to identify them with VOM yourself or accept the generally standard convention that pin 1 is ground and pin 4 is +VDC, pins 2 and 3 are unused. If you have a DC power cable that you use with your V-Lock battery charging station, maybe just use that?

Gavin Rawlings from Venture Films just posted some footage on his FB page of his F55 on a Ronin 2. Not sure if you do the FB thing or not Mark, but I'm sure Gavin could help you out.

Thanks guys, turned out I had the power within me all along! The old DTAP to XLR cable I have for my F3 worked a treat. I just stripped the F55 down to it's essence (removing even the battery plate) and just plugged into the back of it. The whole rig ran off the Ronin's batteries. Very neat, very tidy... just very heavy.

Are you guys talking about an F55 or an FS5? Isn't F55 pretty heavy for a Ronin? Is that an F55 in the pic or an FS5?

That's definitely an F55 - the big guns. The ronin 2 has crazy payload capabilities

Would love a Ronin 2. I could easily handle it with an F55 for as long as needed, up to about 10 minutes.
