P2cms... Re-rendering

One of the cool features of P2cms is that I can dump .mxf files directly into the FCP timeline..... slight problem is that they need to be rendered to view which is a pain but even worse is that if you do anything to them i.e. do a 3 point colour correction then the whole clip needs to be RE-rendered again making this cool feature almost useless!

Is anyone aware of a way around this??
Cheers

Noah, Thanks for the reply... I do already have Raylight but am having the same problem... I need to render anything that I import into FCP using it :(

I´m still on FCP 5.04 the one just before the intel version... is this likely to be the issue?

FCP 6 should help a lot but rendering indicates your sequence settings don't match the clips- frame rate, resolution, codec, etc.

Select several of the clips, right click and "make a multi clip sequence".

That will ensure your timeline matches your footage.

If you're editing 720p50 format, make sure you have a version of FCP that supports 720p50 (5.04 does not). Bringing in 720p50 format into a 720p60 sequence with Raylight or CMS, even if the frame rate is set to 25P, is not going to work.

That was my original thought.... but Im using the P2 Log passthrough CODEC which when used through either P2 Log OR the FCP Ingest process WILL play the footage correctly. In the sequence settings it offers me a 720 25p option. Why wont it work with Raylight?

Becasue it converts it to 720p60 codec from 720p50 to support
older versions of FCP?
