OK I will try to calm down. Using HVX, 2 - 16 GB cards, Powerbook 17", FCP2 and external drive. I was recording a live music event outdoors for 5 hours. Every time I took the card out to transfer to my hard drive using P2CMS it would not show all the clips. It would start to see them, then show one or 2 only. I put the card back into the camera the first time to make sure all was there, and they were. Same result when I put it back in the laptop to have P2CMS do the copy. Still not seeing all the clips. When I exported, I noticed that the copy window did indeed show that they were going across. They all seemed to be on the drive when I looked at the files after copying (Audio, clips, icons, video all seemed to be copied) So I continued in this vain assuming that it would work, because I had neither time nor an assistant.
Later when I tried to use Log and transfer I got the same result. It was not "seeing" the clips. Now I started to freak out. Upon further investigation I noticed that the "invisible" clips were playable in Quick Time. I was able to individually import the raw P2 video into FCP and it played it as well as the audio. (Much to my surprise)
The one piece of information that may be helpful is that these are very long clips. Does P2CMS have difficulty with this? Is my camera creating a a new clip after it rolls past each 4GB sector? Do I have a bad card? Camera? Corrupt P2CMS software? I could not troubleshoot as I am literally recording outdoors in the woods of upstate New York without internet access
How do I reconstitute these files? Do I have to import the raw MXF and then export as Quick Time? Can I just import the individual raw files without having to convert to QT?
I have always dragged and dropped the files until Barry mentioned how dangerous it was to do this and how much more secure using P2CMS is. Now I am VERY VERY dubious. In 2 1/2 years this is the very first time I have had a problem and it seems miiiiiiiiiiighty coincidental that this occurred the first time I relied on P2CMS.
Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

My number is 323-243-9331 if anyone cares to give me a call. I would really look like a fool if I lost these files permanently.
