AVC-I (100 or 50):
Luckily for you, the NEW Final Cut accepts this no problem. You can natively import and edit the footage.
DVCPRO-HD, DVCPRO 50, DVCPRO via P2 card (MXF files):
You must first convert the MXF files to a quicktime format, I prefer H.264 Intraframe (basically AVC-I) in order to edit. Transfer the new files into your project and begin editing.
Thanks, guys! I am a new to the whole P2 world and saw that there were posts regarding the work flow with the 100 and 200. I am in the process of acquiring a 300, which will be my first P2 system. Thought that maybe the 300 had it's own set of peculiarities so I thought I would ask.
Could you recommend a resource for someone who wants to learn how to work with the P2 system, book or DVD?
To test it, compare the raw footage you have imported from the 300 using the AVCIntra setting to an exported sequence. That footage will open and play as AVCIntra on a FCS3 machine, but on a FCS2 machine will display as black video.
The raw footage is native AVCIntra100 on a FCS3 machine, but an exported self contained sequence is prores HQ.
