P2 Viewer Plus

The software manager just wrote again and said that an update has now been posted. P2 Viewer Plus for Windows is now at version 1.0.7.0 and should hopefully work for everyone.

Great. It works now!

It's a great app. Wish something like this existed before:)

So what has changed to the old P2viewer? I have my offloading workflow down, so I´d like to hear what this version might improve on. Thanks!

You can view files stored any where, not just on a P2 card. For instance you can click on a drive and it will show you all the P2 clips on that drive.
It's quite neat.

Well either I am not using it right or it is still a little buggy. Thumbnail clips from p2 card appear quickly but take about 14 seconds each to load before it is playable (old P2 viewer plays instantly once thumbnail clicked). Video clips on seperate hard drive all load up under "local folder". Does not allow you to drill down to a particular project folder on that drive.

P2 Viewer Plus text search doesn´t work

The text memo item has disappeared from the filtering options.
You can't search for words within the text memo.

Clicked on the direct link above. It took me to mac version. Downloaded > Installed > Run. I directed it to an external I know theres a number of P2 card copies. Auto found everything on the drive, can edit meta data, scrub etc. Works well.

No problem running on it my MacPro (Snow Leopard on 2009 Intel Tower). Slightly more intuitive than P2CMS but still a slightly soviet Windows GUI feel to it. (I guess as a Mac user I'm spoiled with software that looks like eye-candy and feels like butter.) And like P2CMS, not well supported with instructional documentation. Would really love to learn to use Metadata functions properly. All I've ever done with P2CMS as use its Export function with file verification to copy files from the card onto HDDs. So I too would like to know about the paid upgrade to allow for the ingest of files from P2 cards. Can't find that anywhere.

I've installed P2V Plus on two PCs (XP and Seven).
The keyword is slowness, honestly I can't see the reason for releasing such a maddening tool for P2 management.
As Mark Williams wrote, it takes a loooot of time between clips selecting and their playback, selecting more clips and playing them back directly from a P2 Card read through USB 2.0 is unthinkable, becomes totally frustrating.

As far as I tried, there is no chance to view/copy/register P2 contents already stored on BD-R (optical drives are not shown in the tree), furthermore, if I try to playback DV25 clips (50 Hz area) they appear blurred, poorly defined as if they were some sort of low-res proxy data.

Don't know if this new Plus version will replace the old (and perfectly working) P2V, but it certainly needs a lot of improvements to be barely usable.
