P2 Viewer doesn't play clips

hey guys,

I need your help!

We finished shooting on Saturday and since then I'm trying every possible way of watching the footage - and nothing works....
Footage was copied from P2 Cards via laptop onto a external hard drive, then copied again onto my pc, where I now would like to watch it. Playing the footage directly from the Cards via laptop worked perfectly fine.

I got the P2 Viewer installed - the driver, too -
I've created "Virtual P2 Cards", I can see all the clips' icons on the monitor, P2 Viewer shows me the timecodes, the duration of the clips, everything seems to be fine.
I doubleclick on one of the clips, the play-window shows me the timeline, the timecode, the duration etc. But when I click on the play button the player stays black and doesn't play the clip, it just goes 1 frame further in the timeline and that's it.

Looking forward to your ideas!

I ingested the footage from the cards via P2 Viewer, saving them directly on my external hard drive.

then I copied the folders with all sub-folders from the external onto my pc.

It worked in a freind's Avid Media Composer perfectly fine
I only have Premiere Pro 2.0 which is unable to read the mxf files...

And P2 Viewer worked on your computer before?

Do you still have the external hard drive? Can you view the files from that?

I've just installed P2 Viewer on my PC today: it hasn't worked yet.
I still have the hard drive - I'll try it - but it's exactly the same files, why should it work from there when it doesn't work with the files directly on my pc?

Not sure. Just testing to see if P2 Viewer is working properly on your PC or if there was a problem with transferring the files to your hard drive.

If the files on the external hard drive play OK in P2 Viewer, then there's most likely a problem with the files on your PC hard drive; you'd want to delete and re-transfer them.

But if P2 Viewer doesn't play files that you have seen are OK, then there's a problem either with P2 Viewer or your computer.

In any case, you may want to try uninstalling and re-installing P2 Viewer and see if that helps at all.

Only thing I can think of - when you set P2 Virtual card, you set it at the top directory (folder) that contains the CONTENTS folder and the lastclip.txt file (not one of the video folders or files)
